Privacy notice
Last updated: replace with the date you publish this.
This notice explains what personal data NEUK SynBio collects and what we do with it. This is a draft and has not been reviewed by a lawyer or a university data protection officer. Have it checked before you publish.
Who we are
NEUK SynBio is an unincorporated synthetic biology network based in Newcastle upon Tyne. Contact: info@neuksynbio.com.
What we collect
If you join our mailing list we collect your email address, and your name and institution if you provide them. If you register for an event through Eventbrite, Eventbrite collects that data under its own privacy policy and shares attendee details with us.
Why we collect it
To send you announcements about NEUK seminars and opportunities, and to report anonymised attendance figures to our funders. We rely on your consent, which you give by signing up and can withdraw at any time.
Who we share it with
Our email provider processes the mailing list on our behalf. We do not sell your data and we do not share it with sponsors. Reports to funders contain totals only, never individual details.
How long we keep it
Until you unsubscribe, or after two years with no engagement, whichever comes first.
Your rights
You can ask to see, correct or delete the data we hold about you, or object to our use of it. Email info@neuksynbio.com. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
Photography
We sometimes photograph events for our website and social media. If you would rather not appear, tell an organiser on the day and we will not include you.
