Get involved
Five ways in, from "email me when something is on" to "put me on the committee".
Join the mailing list
The simplest way in. One email a month with what is coming up, who is speaking, and opportunities across the region.
One email a month. We store your address only to send the NEUK newsletter. See our privacy notice.
Or just turn up
NEUK seminars are free and open. You do not need to register, be a member, or be at the host institution. Check the events page for the next date.
Speak at a seminar
We programme two talks per seminar, usually pairing an established researcher with an early-career one. If you are a PhD student or postdoc, this is a low-stakes way to present outside your own department.
Email a talk title, two or three sentences on the content, and your affiliation. We will come back to you with dates.
Host a seminar
From 2026 we are rotating seminars between partner campuses. Hosting means providing a room for a couple of hours and a local contact. We handle the speakers, the promotion and the catering.
This is the single most useful thing an institution can do for the network.
Join the committee
The committee programmes the seminars, handles sponsorship and runs the network. We particularly want members from Durham, Northumbria, Sunderland and Teesside, because a network organised entirely from one campus is not a network.
Expect around two hours a month. It is good experience for a research CV, and you will meet everyone.
Partner as a company
If you work in biotechnology, instrumentation, DNA synthesis, bioprocessing or anything adjacent, NEUK is a direct line to the regional research base.
- Present your work alongside academic speakers
- Sponsor a seminar or a term of the programme
- Host a site visit for researchers and students
- Find collaborators for grant applications and studentships
Send us a message
Speaker proposals, hosting offers, sponsorship or anything else. We read everything and reply to most things within a week.
